Coaching and change

Are they going together or not? List of questions that need to be answered.

You can ask ‘Is #coaching for me?’.

The answer is not as simple as it looks. The most important question that you have to ask yourself is:

’Am I prepared for change?’ If the answer is ‘Yes’, go and get it! When you want to achieve a goal set up, you need to be ready for a change in your life. If not, get to the point when you are.

The main thing here is #mindset. In the literature, you can find definitions of at least 2 mindsets (Dweck, 2021).

Let’s look at them now.

First is the #fixed mindset. It is when you feel great in your #comfort zone and do not want to leave it. Your feelings and approach do not allow you to leave it. Every change to your current position evokes in you: fear, discomfort and inconvenience. You take any transformation as a thread. Why it is like that?

The main reason is our childhood and the way how we were raised. The majority of us were taught to do what we’ve been told and not take into account other solutions and/ or options. ‘Don’t do this, don’t do that’, ‘Why do you want to do this if you do not know the result?’ and many other questions that we were told. Because of that, we didn’t want to try new things to avoid failing. Yes, failing…

Is an unsuccessful case really a failure?

Let’s park it here and analyse another mindset, the #growth one. The #growth mindset allows you to think about any new situation as an opportunity, not a threat! You are open to leaving your comfort zone and trying something new that can be a chance for you to improve your life and yourself.

Of course, sometimes this new situation and/ or challenge will not go along with your expectations but is it really a failure? Is not! You need to take it as a life lesson. You need to go up and do it again until you succeed.

However, you need to remember what A. Einstein said: “Insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results” (Wilczek, 2015).

What I can wish you, then?

Good luck!
